Hi guys I'm Duke and I was told to join this thing with this here guy. His name is Jemaine and he is in a gangsta folk duo called Flight of the Conchords.

With any luck, I'll be getting on all of your nerves immediately, without really even trying.

Sup.

Hi, I've been watching this community for a while and I've decided to join. I'm Bringing Megurine Luka from Vocaloid, she's a virtual Idol and likes tuna. She don't really have much of a canon, so it going to be hard to play her. But I'll try.....I hope to have fun playing with you all.

HEY BROMIES.

It's Oreo again.  With this dude, Edward Baynes from Dream Theater's Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory.

It's a fantastic rock opera full of mystery, horror, psychological, and supernatural bullshit.  The epic kind.  Uhhh.

Okay, guys. [livejournal.com profile] app_this_plz is coming up this weekend. And I'm gonna go hunting. So who should I be looking for? Gimme big characters, gimme little characters. Gimme songs you think would make neat characters. I'll throw in a few of my own.

Since characters are starting to actually get antsy about it IC, I figure I may as well talk a little about how I figure performance stuff should go, on the comm. These are rough guidelines and thoughts! I want to hear peoples' input and what they think could be different.

Most of the performances, I figure, can be handwaved if people feel like it. If you don't want to do that, you can either write out something pure-prose, or throw up a youtube or a streaming music link (what are the kids using these days for streaming songs? idk, I'm old), and maybe have a little window-dressing prose attached. What your character is wearing, how well they're performing, if they're being an ass to their bandmates... etc, etc.

Scheduling: As far as IC scheduling goes, once the first act (looking at this point to be Murdoc, once he makes contact with the clipboard guy) goes, it'll be a slow but steady pace. Assume NPC bands and occasional intermissions, so that there's downtime and it's not the same four or five people performing right after each other until they drop. However, there'll still be no indication of when the show might be over. It'll just keep going. And going. And going. None of the staff will have any answer to "when will we be done" beyond "when it's over." ENJOY THAT.

Band: If your char would usually have accompaniment but you had them come alone, NPC backup can be provided. They'll perform well enough, but have none of the sparkling personality of the usual band. (This may be a perk for some.)

Audience: There will, in fact, be one. They will be appreciative, and unless noted otherwise, will react however you'd expect an audience to react. However, it'll seem, sometimes, like their faces are more indistinct and interchangeable than they should be. The concept of an 'audience,' instead of individual people.

Interaction: There are monitors backstage, so everyone else can watch an act's performance and make snippy comments during. Or comment after, when they come back.

Questions? Thoughts?

Hallo. I am Rebecca, or Stu, or 'hey you awkward person' or whatever you want to call me, though I'm most likely to answer to the first two. And, ehm. I was told there was a distinctive lack of 2Ds here and thought that should be rectified. I'm still fiddling with stuff, but will be playing very soon. So yeah. Wow I'm awful at introductions.

Ohaiiiiiii
So, I'm Clara and I bring you Molly Jones, from The Beatles' song "Obladi Oblada". After all, she's "the singer in a band", called Molly and the Moulins, which has been touring in rather small clubs. But also a wife and the mother of two, so it's gona be an interesting clash of lifestyles with some (or most) of the characters here.
Very interesting indeed

OH okay.

I should actually post a proper introduction I suppose.

HI! I'm Oreo. I'm bringing in your friendly neighborhood Murdoc Niccals. He's being pulled from 2010-ish. He is a pristine angel.

Also towing along Rabbit from 8 Mile ([livejournal.com profile] overthesetracks) and Jude Quinn from I'm Not There ([livejournal.com profile] onlysighing ).

Jude'll be ganked from somewhere in 1965 after the release of Bringing It All Back Home.  His work before that will be more or less "unnamed," since he's a separate fictionalize personality of Bob Dylan as opposed to... the dude himself.  Jude's entire character is based around the release of "his" new album and the shift in content and character (moving away from being an idolized 'folk protest singer') and gaining his independence as a musical artist.  STILL WORKING ON FLESHING IT OUT A BIT MORE BUT--

The end.

Bye.

O HAI COMMUNITY.

I'm Hannah and, uh...I'm somehow going to try to bring you Tommy Walker from The Who's "Tommy". Focusing more on the film for the sake of the icons and time period, but with a few elements of the album mixed in. I'm taking him from the end of the film, which places him about...1965/66?Let's ignore the fact that I honestly haven't decided how i'm even going to play a character who spends for than half his canon staring into a mirror yet.

I'm also bringing you "Spanish Johnny" ([livejournal.com profile] bruisedarms), who is a character taken from Bruce Springsteen's "Incident on 57th Street" off of the Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle album. I'm still working with this guy, though.

In short, HEY HELLO I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'M DOING.:'D

Greetings. My name is Nix and I bring you an androgynous rock n' roll deity!

Just wanted to post a quick little intro notice for Ziggy Stardust. This pretty thing is well along his way in his spiral into decadence. I am starting him from the beginning of the end. The crest of his wave of fame and excess. The canon I'm using includes not just The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust, but also bits of Diamond Dogs and Aladdin Sane and the movie version of The Man Who Fell to Earth. (I will be writing a more detailed explanation of his canon in his journal, so I'm sorry to leave it vague here.)

Basically, Ziggy is an alien given mostly-human form. His world was ending and, as part of a group of rebellious youth, he escaped to Earth in hope of finding help or a sanctuary for escape. He found little help and little hope of returning home for his friends. The money and fame he planned to use to help his comrades was soon going to waste on more decadent and self-serving exploits and he has been losing track of his original goals. After all, back home he's little more than common, but here...he's a prophetic, beautiful, rock God.

We're pleased to meet you. Do be kind, won't you?

First part of the first rule, about fight club what kinds of characters are allowed, now reads:
This is a dressing room for characters from music-based fandoms. This includes musical films, stage shows, concept albums, et cetera. This includes characters who are not, in their canon, aware that they are singing. It includes characters who are from non-musical canons who are professional or (equally dedicated) musicians. Rule of thumb is, the music has to be a central part of their canon or character. If you aren't sure if a character would fit, just ask.

More tweaking will happen as I work out what works best and will make people happiest. And I'll keep people posted, when it does.

So let's get this started! Hello, everyone. My name is Terana, and I am your neighbourhood friendly mod, and player of Pink Floyd, from the movie/album The Wall. I started this comm to have a place where musical-ish pups could all get together and groove and have majestic ego-clashes. Right now, it's operating on an invite/word of mouth basis, to sort of play test and figure out any kinks. So feel free to spread the word!

The rules and setting, and such, are on [livejournal.com profile] do_it_crew, and are pretty simple, but if there are any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS.

And a first post in here, too, to even things out.

Mod account up. Initial tags up. Profiles and layouts looking fancy.

Next: Invites, and general advertisements.
